Container Units, Accessible Palette, @layer, and animating the box model.



I had a fun couple of hours co-hosting two sessions of Inclusive Design 24. The team did an amazing job of keeping that show on the road for 24 hours, and all of the content is now available to watch.

A bit of a short list this week, I've had precious little time for reading, but hopefully something of interest.

Including this partly because not everyone realizes the fact that whatever the browser you download on iOS, it's WebKit under the hood. This has implications for browser testing if an Apple device is all you have for mobile testing.

Some thoughts on animating an accordion widget, and whether animating height is always a bad thing to do.

I mentioned last week I had been documenting @layer, here are those docs. There are missing bits until the various parts of MDN update and add spec and compat data and so on.

Why HSL is not a great choice for a color system, a better alternative, and introducing Accessible Palette.

Container units will allow sizing of things based on the size of a container, like viewport units but for containers.
